Hi, my name is Sheridan.
Compassion came to me early in my 44 years of life. Having a nonverbal parent taught me how to connect deeply with someone and intuit what they wanted to say. Having other immediate family members with complex needs taught me how to listen, care and advocate whilst being open to their unique needs and desires.
I have worked in both the disability and aged care fields, as a massage therapist, then a support worker, and later as a coordinator. I also have a master's degree in social science.
But most importantly, I have had the privilege of supporting both my maternal and paternal grandmothers in their deaths. Sitting with them in their final days taught me how to talk about death, how to be present, how to comfort a dying person, and how to advocate as per their wishes when they became unable to. These experiences were truly a gift that I'm so grateful for.
